Our Setting
Throughout Stompers
At Stondon Stompers, children are at the heart of everything we do. Our priority is to provide a fun, friendly and nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued and supported to reach their full potential at their own pace.
We believe children learn best through play, exploration and meaningful relationships. To support this, we provide a balance of child-led opportunities and adult-initiated activities, giving children the freedom, encouragement and confidence to explore their environment, follow their interests and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Every child at Stondon Stompers is assigned a Key Person, who will be your main point of contact throughout your child’s time with us. Your child’s Key Person takes a special interest in their wellbeing, learning and development, helping them to settle, build confidence and thrive within the setting.
We also work closely in partnership with parents and carers. Through our Tapestry app, families receive regular photographs, observations and updates, giving you a window into your child’s day and allowing you to share in their learning journey with us.
Our Refurbishment Journey
In Spring 2025, we signed a lease agreement allowing us sole use of the village hall building. This marked an exciting new chapter for Stondon Stompers, as it meant we were able to move away from our long-standing ‘pack away’ status and begin creating a more permanent, purpose-designed environment for the children in our care. With the support of the Parish Council, who own the building, we began a large-scale refurbishment project during Summer 2025. This has allowed us to thoughtfully redesign the space and create dedicated rooms for different age groups, enabling us to better meet the needs of children at each stage of their early years journey.
We opened our 3–4 year Pre-School Room in September 2025, followed by our 2–3 year Toddler Room after the October half term. Our refurbishment was then completed with the opening of our 1–2 year room in January 2026, allowing us to fully offer dedicated spaces across the setting. This has been a long-awaited and exciting transformation for our pre-school, helping us bring our vision for Stondon Stompers to life and create a setting that truly reflects the needs of our children and families.
Our Rooms
Our setting is now carefully organised into dedicated spaces for different age groups, allowing us to provide age-appropriate resources, routines and learning experiences while still maintaining the warm, welcoming feel of Stondon Stompers. Please see below more infomation about each room...
Babies Room
1 – 2 years
Our Babies Room provides a calm, cosy and nurturing space for our youngest children. We understand how important it is for children in these early years to feel secure, comforted and cared for, so we create an environment where strong attachments can be built and every child feels safe and valued. The room is designed to support early development through sensory play, songs, stories, exploratory experiences and simple creative activities. Daily routines are responsive to each child’s individual needs, helping them to feel settled while gently encouraging independence and confidence.
Toddler Room
2 – 3 years
Our Toddler Room is a lively, engaging and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to explore, investigate and develop their growing independence. At this age, children are naturally curious and eager to make sense of the world around them, and we support this through a wide range of play-based experiences. Children have opportunities to enjoy role play, sensory activities, creative experiences, stories, music, construction and physical play. The room is carefully planned to support communication, confidence, social skills and early independence, helping children build strong foundations for the next stage of their learning.
Pre-School Room
3 – 4 years
Our Pre-School Room is designed to prepare children for the next stage of their learning journey in a fun, stimulating and supportive way. For children aged 3 to 4 years, we provide opportunities that encourage confidence, independence, resilience and a love of learning, while recognising that play remains central to children’s development. Children take part in a wide range of activities that support early literacy, language, mathematical understanding, creativity, problem-solving and social development. We encourage children to ask questions, make choices, work together and take pride in their achievements, helping them feel ready and excited for school.
Outdoor Learning
Outdoor play is an important part of life at Stondon Stompers, and we are excited to continue developing our outdoor provision as part of our long-term vision for the setting. Our next stage of development focuses on enhancing our garden spaces, creating improved outdoor environments that will give each room free-flow access to its own outdoor area.
We are also developing a dedicated growing area, where children will have the opportunity to grow their own fruits and vegetables as part of our curriculum, helping them learn about nature, growth, healthy eating and caring for the world around them.We believe outdoor learning plays a vital role in children’s physical development, wellbeing, curiosity and confidence, and we are looking forward to continuing this exciting journey as our setting grows.
